When intelligence becomes abundant, what happens to human judgment?
Artificial intelligence is rapidly expanding what can be generated, analyzed, recommended—and increasingly acted upon.
That changes more than what machines can do.
It changes the conditions under which human beings perceive, judge, decide and act.
The question is no longer only:
How capable will AI become?
There is another question:
As more capability moves outside the human mind, what must become stronger within us?
That question sits at the center of the Clarity research agenda.
We are not starting from zero.
Decades of research across cognitive science, psychology, behavioral science, neuroscience and decision research show that human judgment is not produced by information alone.
Attention, prior experience, emotion, context, salience, framing, confidence and other influences can affect what we notice, how we interpret it, and what we ultimately choose.
ESTABLISHED EVIDENCE
Evidence shows that AI can augment human performance, but human–AI combinations do not automatically outperform the stronger of human or AI alone. Outcomes vary by task, relative capabilities and interaction design.
EMERGING EVIDENCE
Emerging research indicates that metacognitive sensitivity can influence how people use confidence when responding to AI advice.

Emerging work on human oversight suggests that meaningful human involvement requires more than simply keeping a person “in the loop.” Cognitive capacity, sufficient space for judgment, authority and the ability to intervene can matter.
We are learning a great deal about making AI more capable.
The corresponding question is how human judgment should develop alongside it.
CLARITY PROPOSITION
Clarity proposes that an important human capability lies not merely in acquiring more information, but in becoming better able to recognize what is shaping our perception and judgment—especially at consequential moments.
The proposition is not that people should become continuously self-aware.
Nor is the goal simply to slow down.
The working hypothesis is more precise:
Human judgment may benefit when people become better able to recognize relevant signals at the right moment, become aware of consequential influences on their judgment, create sufficient cognitive space, reconsider what matters, and translate that clearer perception into intentional action.
Can this capacity be systematically developed, practiced and measured?
This is where Clarity moves from proposition toward investigation.
OPEN QUESTION
A serious proposition must make room for being wrong.
And ultimately:
These questions are not weaknesses in the project.
They are the research agenda.
Specify the capabilities and constructs precisely enough to investigate.
What do we mean by awareness quality, perception quality, judgment quality and decision quality?
Develop measurement approaches that do not depend on self-report alone.
Potential evidence may combine behavioral measures, scenario-based judgment, longitudinal observation, qualitative evidence and established measures where scientifically appropriate.
Examine whether specific practices change relevant capabilities—and whether those changes transfer into real situations.
Testing may span different populations, contexts, levels of pressure and forms of human–AI interaction.
Invite independent researchers, practitioners and institutions to challenge, replicate, refine—or reject—the propositions.
The purpose of research is not to prove Clarity right.
It is to discover what holds, what does not, for whom, under what conditions—and what must change.
This inquiry should not belong to one person, discipline or culture.
Questions about human judgment in the age of AI cross psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, education, management, medicine, technology, philosophy, ethics and everyday human experience.
Clarity therefore invites researchers, practitioners, educators, organizational leaders and institutions to examine the propositions critically.
Not simply to support them.
To challenge them.
To test them.
To improve them.
Question an assumption or theoretical claim.
Explore a research question or validation method.
Investigate Clarity in an organization, profession or real-world context.
Contribute research that strengthens—or challenges—the emerging framework.
Discuss a research, institutional or application partnership.
Clarity began as an inquiry.
Its value should ultimately depend on what survives evidence, practice and challenge.
